The gold foil represents highly reflective space-rated foil (seen on the Apollo landers). The lunar surface is extremely hot during the day, and that heat is reflected off the lunar soil. The foil reflects that light and heat away from the craft.

Water would be mined on the moon, along with methane, to sustain astronauts at a base, or to resupply and refuel deep space missions.

Hope that answers your questions.

Loved the photos. Why the shiny gold aluminum foil-like thing? What's its purpose. Why would water be mined on the moon?

Neat video. I am huge fan of new space. I hope your team succeeds and I hope a few of the other teams land on the moon too. Also, Mr Red Whittaker sounds like the gman from half-life 2

Hi
I hope all your tests to be successful.
Where do you want to use a parachute? Do you want to use it in lander's control system test?

Congratulations on your selection. I'm sure your team will do its usual fine work.

At Oregon L5 Society, we would like to know a bit more about just what your team proposed, and we'd like to stay informed about progress on the project. After all, there are many things in these caves to be done, and if you are covering one area, we may be able to complement that work with ours. Our proposal for lunar lava tubes was not selected, but the fact that at least one was is most encouraging.
