Multiple allies make exploration possible
The audacious goal of an independent robotic mission to the Moon benefits from a diverse range of assistance.
Astrobotic’s core competencies are derived from Carnegie Mellon University, home of the Robotics Institute and the Field Robotics Center (FRC). Many of the foundational patents for mobile robotics were created at
the FRC, which was founded by Dr. William “Red” Whittaker, the founder of Astrobotic Technology. Carnegie Mellon students, staff and professors collaborate with Astrobotic to develop the technologies needed to open the Moon to robotic development.
Corporate support also is crucial, and can be directed at Carnegie Mellon as tax-deductible donations supporting the university’s general space robotics efforts, or as sponsorships with Astrobotic that deliver specific benefits to the corporations.
